When it comes to your life, your rights take a back seat. The most important part of motorcycling when you take off is to come home safely. We all have love ones so always keep that in mind. The purpose of this article is because I have seen all too much experienced motorcyclist telling new riders about idiot drivers and cagers. This is just life so you better get use to it. The brightest lights, the loudest horn or the most fluorescent will not stop someone who is not paying attention or is having an emergency medical condition. The emergency medical condition is a whole different topic that I don't hear motorcyclist talk about much. Just because a person ran a light doesn't mean they meant to. Riding like everyone around you has to respect your rights and look out for you is just being naive. Lane splitting is one of the subjects that comes up alot. While legal in some states, you still need to exercise caution when doing so. You may find that motorist, although legal, who may not care and may do something to block your passage. The laws governing this practice are designed to make lane splitting as safe as it can possibly be done but there's always that one person. In closing always look and think ahead. What will you do if a car pulls in front of you? What if someone doesn't obey the red light or stop sign? What are my escape routes or best positioning on the road? No one wants to see a motorcyclist get hurt nor be the victim, but we can make it safer by obeying the laws and being a vigilant rider.
