The only people who don't fail are the ones who are too afraid to try anything outside of their comfort zone. Failure is built into success. That's why it feels so good when we succeed because we already understand failure. A saying I learned and kept with me throughout my racing career was that in order to be a good winner, you first must know how to be a gracious loser. Knowing this will keep you humble.

I won't mention any names in order to protect the not so innocent. I was taught almost everything wrong when I learned how to ride a motorcycle. It wasn't their fault. They were only teaching me what they knew. One of the first sayings I was told was, "You're not a rider until you go down." That's bogus! Even after I went down, I still wasn't a rider. I was merely someone trying to learn from trial and era. Thank goodness for luck and someone watching over me.
