How to own your motorcycle for free!

Motorcycles are a liability and like all liabilities they cost money. Well I wasn't about to give up motorcycling so I found a way to own mines for practically nothing, that's right nothing. If you're intersted in learning how to do this then check out this article.

One day I was going over some bills and I noticed something very obvious. My expenses were increasing, but my income was not. Growing up I heard a term that always stuck with me and it was, "a penny saved is a penny earned". I learned as I grew up just how true this statement was. We may not always be able to increase our incomes, but we do have some control over how much of it we spend and where we spend it. When we budget we typically put things into two categories, needs and wants. Now technically a motorcycle falls into the want list but I consider mines to be a need for my mental health.

Now that I had decided the motorcycle was a need, these were some things I did to lower the cost of ownership. Now the results will differ for everyone but I managed to own my motorcycle for nothing. Here are the things that I did:

  1. Maintenance log: I keep a maintenace log to record all my expenses for my vehicles. By going over previous years expenses, I now I a clearer picture of how much my motorcycle costs me annually. I like to take that annual cost and divide it by twelve.

  2. Partner Links: On our website, https://www.newmotorcycleriders.com/our-story, we have a partner links page. By using the special links provided on that page, I receive the best deals possible on all my motorcycle and some none motorcycle related products. Savings I use to offset the cost of my motorcycle ownership.

  3. Cash Back: I compound my savings by joining and or downloading the Rakuten app, www.rakuten.com/r/THEJAC241?eeid=28187. When I make purchases, I activate my Rakuten account to earn cash back on all my purchases.

  4. Cash back credit cards: I use cash back credit cards to increase the cash back I receive when making my purchases. This combined with the Rakuten cash back can sometimes triple or quadruple the cash back that you earm.

  5. Loyalty points: Some retailers offer loyalty points when making a purchase that can be used for future purchases from that retailer.

  6. Apps: If you're like me you have to have your coffee fix. For me it's Dunkin Donuts. By using my DD app I receive points which can be used as cash for future purchases plus I use a cash back card to reload earning me even more cash back awards. Don't forget to take advantage of those offers which can earn you two or three times the points on purchases.

These are just a few of the things I do to save money and earn cash back which offsets the cost of owning my motorcycle. Remember, these savings don't just apply to purchases, they also apply to everything you spend money on so rack up on the savings. Who knows, with all these savings an upgrade on your motorcycle may be in your future.
